Here are a few of our favourite event picks for the month.

Zoorasic at Werribee Open Range Zoo

When: 9:30am -4:00pm, Open Daily from June 1st – 14th July 2019

Where: Werribee Open Range Zoo

Cost: Adult: $39 and Children: $19

For a limited time only, walk with dinosaurs at Werribee Open Range Zoo. Follow the Werribee River Trail to find 12 life-size dinosaurs including the Tyrannosaurs rex, Stegosaurus and more.

This spectacular display of open range dinosaurs will excite and thrill as you pass by these realistic creatures brought to life through animatronics.Roaming Dinosaur Rangers will be observing behaviours, taking notes and helping you interpret the unique movements and sounds of these prehistoric creatures. For extra dino fun, help out at the fossil dig taking place each day in the Dino Ranger research tent.

National Celtic Festival

When: June 7th – 10th

Where: Portarlington

Cost: Multiple Single Day and Weekend Passes Available Starting from $100 For Adults and $50 For Children. Children under 14 enter free if accompanied by an adult

Get your dancing shoes on as the National Celtic Festival is coming to town again. Held annually in Portarlington, Victoria, Australia on the June long weekend.

Nestled between the Bellarine Peninsula’s renowned vineyards and the famous mussel farms of Corio Bay, this normally quiet bay side village will come to life with the music, laughter and passion of the Celtic spirit.

Attracting over 16,000 people to the region and catering to all age, cultural and family groups over the three-day long weekend event annually, The National Celtic Festival program offers a broad and diverse range of arts experiences that capture the Celtic culture in its many interpretations within the Australian setting.

The Festival uses a range of venues within the town, including community halls and spaces, the hotel, restaurants, cafes and churches. Marquees are also set up on the foreshore to provide additional venues; these include the Village Stage, Celtic Club, Wine Bar, and Celtic Markets.

The event commences on Friday evening and concludes on Monday afternoon (over 4 days).

Queen's Birthday Port Arlington long weekend cruise

When: 2:30PM on Sunday, 9th June

Where: Port Phillip Ferries, Portarlington Pier: Harding Street, Portarlington

Cost: Adults $25 Children $15 – Children under 3 free

Port Phillip Ferries are celebrating Her Madge’s Birthday with a jig in their step. Join the crew for a truly Portarlington experience.

Cruising the waters of Portarlington, Little Mussel Café will be on board serving up some famous mussel tastings while you get up close and personal to their local marine farms.

The June long weekend in Portarlington means the National Celtic Festival is in full swing. Hand-picked musicians from the National Celtic Festival will also be onboard to spice up the entertainment as you soak up the atmosphere.

Join the crew at the on board cafe for your complimentary tipple, and after the cruise, you can continue dancing up the street to enjoy the rest of the amazing Celtic Festival.

Illustration Embroidery Workshop

When: 1:30-4pm, 15th June 2019

Where: Illustration Embroidery Workshop, National Wool museum, Geelong

Cost: Adults $40

Geelong based artist, Hooray Hoop, leads a fascinating workshop into the intricate world of embroidery.

Taking inspiration from the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 54 exhibition, Hooray Hoop (Jo Natnicha Wongfoofan, @hoorayhoop) will introduce you to her signature style of Illustration Embroidery Art (much loved on Instagram).

Your ticket includes entry into the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 54 exhibition. Suitable for beginners and intermediate participants aged 16+.

All materials provided. Each participant will go home with their own completed artwork, as well as the materials (hoop, threads and needle) to continue at home!

International Yoga Day at the museum

When: 12:15pm-1:00pm and 1:30pm-2:15pm, 21st June 2019

Where: National Wool Museum, 26-32 Moorabool Street, Geelong

Calling all inner Yogi’s out there!

Strike your wildest wildlife inspired yoga moves on International Yoga Day at the Museum, with a unique sequence of poses inspired by the animals of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 54 exhibition.

An Iyengar Yoga teacher from Geelong Yoga will be taking the class, and you’ll have the opportunity to discover this spectacular exhibition before or after your session.

Bring your own mat or use one of theirs.

Your class pass includes yoga session, entry to Museum and the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 54 exhibition.

No experience necessary.
